My Medium
Photography is my medium. Most of my photos are digital but I can’t stand the fact my photos are intangible so I print my photos when I have the money.
My Story
After being fired from a Quiznos, I applied for unemployment. An unfortunate series of events resulted in the denial of my benefits. After six months of no job and no money I won my appeal and received $2,500 in my mailbox one day in June of 2009. It was this moment in time where I was able to do something and I started shooting with this 35mm Canon Rebel G I use to have.
Through different events that took place in my life, I was face to face with myself and the paths which would ultimately determine what would become of me during this one life I have to live. I’m a percussionist as well and I was majoring in music for 2 years only to come to the conclusion that I don’t want to be a band director my entire life. After the music program I thought majoring in marketing and advertising and working for a drum company would be of more interest to me. I loved the idea of traveling and networking but came to the conclusion, once again after a year and a semester of accounting, that I would be stuck cramming numbers in a cubical simply because I need a job to pay off that specific major, trying to find ways to persuade people into buying products they don’t necessarily want. To get to where I am now was nothing short of an intuitive process of highs and many lows. If it weren’t for so much trial and error, the photographs I show you would be non-existent.
My Inspiration
My inspiration comes from where ever I’m at, physically and mentally. It can come from a homeless person to a dead tree. Someone or something will always have something to tell you so as a photographer; it’s my job to bring that thought to reality through exposure and composition.
