Bill Dillberg

My medium:
I have always had a desire to create and photography became the vehicle to satisfy that desire.
Anything that moves or stands still is a fair target.

My story and motivation:

My initial inspiration to be a photographer was my father. He was a photographer by avocation and as his first born son, I grew up watching him apply his passion. As a teenager, I received my first camera. It was a back plated, single negative Speed Graphic, the old "press camera" and I photographed my first job at a wedding along side my father. For many years, my photography was basically to record family and vacation trips. As my daughters became interested in pageants for a brief time, I discovered that I could photograph pageants a lot less expensively than purchasing the pageant photographs. That was the real beginning.
Since then I have used my cameras in a variety of ways. As a volunteer firefighter for fifteen years, I used the camera on the Tulare County Arson Task force, photographing fire scenes.

I was the CFO for Sequoia Beverage Company and I used the camera to capture special events and company functions.

Volunteerism:

In 2000, I was appointed to the City of Visalia Parks and Recreation Commission where served for eight years. With that affiliation, I created a profile of all of the city's parks and with my wife Jan, established the first park's website. We also included photographs and descriptions of special events conducted by the parks department.

Currently:

Most of the work I do now is for the Visalia Parks and Recreation department and the Arts Consortium. The most fun is capturing landscapes. Now that I am retired, we love to travel and we basically follow the camera. (New England in the fall is magnificent.)

Photography has become a passion for me and I am really the happiest with a camera in my hand. Some of my work can be viewed on facebook and on Jan's website "jansjoyousjungle.com" .
The work I have done for the Arts Consortium and the Enchanted Playhouse is displayed on the Arts Consortium photo gallery
